Sweet Investment

I recently stumbled upon Opportunity International, a microfinance non-profit dedicated to helping the working poor (very similar to Kiva.)

Their goal is to provide opportunities for people in chronic poverty by creating jobs, stimulating small businesses, and strengthening communities. Through small business loans, financial services, training, and counsel, millions of poor entrepreneurs worldwide have attained an income, provision for their families, and education for their children.

If that weren't amazing in and of itself, Opportunity International is motivated by Jesus' call to serve the poor. Not too shabby, I would say. "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." "From the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."

Loans start at $25. That's a sweet dinner out for our family. 98.5% of the loans even get paid back. I'm not sure that there's a better way to spend our money. Not spend, but invest. Better get ready to bat my eyelashes at Paul. Thing is, he won't need convincing. Just one of the things I love about him..

Here's how you can give.
